YOUTH TRANSLATORS ASSOCIATION PRESENTED

On October 6th, IRFS press center hosted the opening of a new youth organization – Azerbaijan Youth Translators Association (AGTA).

Saying that that AGTA was established on 30 September – the Internatioinal Day of Translators, the Association head Ismayil Jabrayilov gave information about the motives for creation of the organization and noted that it aims to build communication among translators, represent social, legal and economic interests of translators and support youth translators. His organization will also cooperate with local NGOs providing them with voluntary services. “AGTA is planning to prepare a Code of Ethics for translators, hold trainings for youth translators and meetings with experienced translators,” he added.

AGTA Executive Secretary Rashad Huseynov focused on the goals of the organizations. According to him, the goals are: promotion of research in translation, forming a rightful public opinion about translation profession and the translators, prepare a code of ethics for local translators and guidelines for customers on how to work with translators.

AGTA coordinator Afag Aslanova gave information about the rules for membership. She called on the translators to be active and join the organization. At the end of the event, it was decided to prepare a Code of Ethics for translation. With this view, the translators will come together again in coming days to work on the Code. The event was concluded with membership approval of over thirty translators.
